Why don’t
you have sleeping bags for newborn babies?
Many early childhood professional in Australia recommend you wrap (or
swaddle) your baby for the first 4 to 6 months or until they first start to
roll over.
Most babies don’t move around their cot much until they reach 6 months so you
don’t have to worry about them loosing their sheets and blankets.
For more information on wrapping your baby, visit the wrapping section on the
Karitane website. http://www.swsahs.nsw.gov.au/karitane/docs/wrap.asp
What is
the recommendation in regards to safe sleeping and babies?
SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping is an evidence based campaign that was developed
by researchers from across Australia and internationally.
There are four main messages in the campaign;
1) put baby on back to sleep from birth
2) sleep baby with face uncovered
3) cigarette smoke is bad for baby
4) have a safe cot, safe mattress, safe bedding and safe sleeping environment
for baby night and day
For more information about safe sleeping see the SIDS for Kids website (www.sidsandkids.org)
or download their ‘safe sleeping’ brochure below.

What is
a baby sleeping bag and why would I use one?
Baby sleeping bags have been used in Europe for decades and replace
the need for blankets and top sheets as they help keep your baby covered all
night long. The baby sleeping bag is like an adult sleeping bag but with holes
for the head and arms and a zip and snaps for easy access (Image: CosyDreams
Sleeping bag).
A well designed baby sleeping bag allows air to circulate around your baby and
assuming you have the correct weighted sleeping bag for each season, they will
maintain a comfortable temperature while they sleep. They are also convenient
and versatile and can be used at home, in the car, in the pram and when you
visit with friends and family.
Some of the many benefits of a CosyDreams sleeping bag include:
- Maintaining
a consistent temperature all night long for your baby
- Keeping your
baby consistently warm will help them stay asleep and sleep longer
- Because your
baby is cocooned within their sleeping bag they cannot slip down inside, reducing
the risk of suffocation.
- With the extra
long design your baby can kick and move freely about their cot without feeling
restricted or getting cold.
- Can help babies
that suffer from skin allergies (such as eczema) in 2 ways. One, they will
have less access to their little bodies to scratch and two, the pure cotton
inner, outer and filling will help reduce flare ups of the condition. For
more information about eczema, please visit the Eczema Associations website
at http://www.eczema.org.au
- The 5 point
harness system allows for easy transfer between cot, car and stroller with
minimal disturbance to your possibly sleeping baby!
What is
different about your CosyDreams sleeping bags compared to your competitors
Unlike most of our competitors, our CosyDreams mid season and winter
sleeping bags have 100% cotton filling (or wadding). Most sleeping bags currently
have polyester filling.
Do I need
additional bedding other than a sleeping bag?
CosyDreams sleeping bags come in different weights to suit the different
seasons. To ensure you keep your baby safe you should not use any additional
bedding (loose sheets or blankets) other than a fitted sheet over the mattress.
If your baby is in the correctly weighted sleeping bag and is too cold or too
warm, adjust their temperature by adding or taking away layers of clothing inside
the sleeping bag or adjusting the temperature of their bedroom.
If you
don’t need extra bedding, why do you sell flat sheets as well as fitted?
We also sell matching flat sheets for those people that like the ‘traditional’
look of a fitted sheet and matching flat sheet on top. Flat sheets are also
great for when your baby is younger and still wrapped as the flat sheet can
be used over the top to help keep them warm.
How do
I wash my JollyBeans products?
All JollyBeans Creations products are machine washable at 40 degrees
centigrade.
